چکیده

This work is concerned with the diffraction and scattering of plane electro-acoustic waves by an interfacial crack between two dissimilar piezoelectric half-spaces. An exact solution is obtained for the full scattering field around the tip of the interfacial crack that is loaded with both acoustic SH and electric incident waves. First, it has been found that the interfacial crack is not completely opaque to the electro-acoustic wave: the electro-acoustic wave can penetrate and transmit to the other side of the interfacial slit. Secondly, the analysis has confirmed that the interaction between electric waves and acoustic waves will provide multiple electro/acoustic head waves. Thirdly, the effects of the electro-acoustic surface wave on the scattering field have been examined. The scattering patterns obtained are fundamentally different from the prediction of the scattering theory for purely elastic media. They provide unique electroacoustic signatures for layered piezoelectric materials.

Screw dislocation interacting with interface and interfacial cracks in piezoelectric bimaterials

Interface and interfacial cracks interacting with screw dislocations in piezoelectric bimaterials subjected to antiplane mechanical and in-plane electrical loadings are studied within the framework of linear piezoelectricity theory. Straight dislocations with the Burgers vector normal to the isotropic basal plane near the interface or interfacial crack are considered. The dislocations are chara...

Screw Dislocation Interacting with an Interfacial Edge Crack between Two Bonded Dissimilar Piezoelectric Wedges

This letter is concerned with an interfacial edge crack in a piezoelectric bimaterial wedge interacting with a screw dislocation under antiplane mechanical and in-plane electric loading. In addition to a discontinuous electric potential across the slip plane, the dislocation is subjected to a line-force and a line-charge at the tip. The out-of-plane displacement and electric potentials are obta...

Propagation of a mode-III interfacial conductive crack along a conductive interface between two piezoelectric materials

An analysis is presented for transient response of a mode-III interfacial crack propagating between two dissimilar piezoelectric half spaces. The dynamic fracture toughness of a piezoelectric interface is examined, which is a central issue related to the interface strength of multi-layered sensors and ferroelectric thin film devices. For the mode-III crack propagation in piezoelectric materials...

A semi-infinite interfacial crack between two bonded dissimilar elastic strips

This paper is concerned with a semi-infinite interfacial crack between two bonded dissimilar elastic strips with equal thickness. Solutions for the complex stress intensity factor (SIF) and energy release rate (ERR) are obtained in closed form under in-plane deformations. During the procedure, the mixed boundary-value problem is reduced by means of the conformal mapping technique to the standar...

On Scattering in a Piezoelectric Medium by a Conducting Crack

The work is concerned with the characterization of a Kirchhoff diffraction field in a piezoelectric material. An exact solution is obtained for the full scattering fields around the tip of a semi-infinite crack, which is electrically conducting and is loaded with both SH acoustic incident waves and in-plane electrical incident waves. First, it is found that a conducting crack in a piezoelectric...
